The Department of Philosophy was established to provide an academic plate form for intellectual activity in Southern Punjab. Philosophy is one of the core disciplines of Humanities and Social Sciences. It also has close relation with Natural Sciences and Management. Philosophy as a discipline of the study of ultimate reality is supreme among all sciences. Because of no exact definition of philosophy the area of philosophical research is so vast. On the one hand it includes logical, moral, scientific, socio-political, feminist, esthetic, educational, historical, literary, linguistic and cultural issues. On the other hand it is concerned with issues of crises in media, management, bureaucracy, justice, human rights, identity, pacifism and tolerance. This paves the way for young philosophers to avail opportunities in all aforesaid fields. A philosopher like Allama Iqbal can even change the fate of a nation. Philosophy does make a man great. Keeping in the view the importance of philosophy following programs are being offered:
1. M.A (Philosophy) Two Years under semester system
2. B.S. (Philosophy) Four Years under semester system
(M Phil in philosophy will be offered as soon as possible.)

Main Objectives:

To develop competent professionals and intellectuals that may serve in any field related to science, society and individuals
To make a positive contribution to revitalize intellectual activities in postcolonial society of Pakistan
To give knowledge and critical skill to scholars and researchers for genuine inquiry in academic research
To provide a philosophical plate form for the epistemic reconciliation of Orient and Occident
