The Department of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan, has expanded its postgraduate academic portfolio with the initiation of MPhil Theriogenology and MPhil Clinical Medicine & Surgery (CMS) under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Saleem Akhtar as Chairman, Department of Clinical Sciences. This development represents an important step towards strengthening advanced veterinary education, promoting specialized research, and developing highly qualified professionals in veterinary sciences.
MPhil Theriogenology
The MPhil Theriogenology programme provides an opportunity for postgraduate education and research in animal reproduction, reproductive physiology, reproductive management, infertility, and assisted reproductive technologies. The programme is intended to strengthen advanced knowledge and research skills in areas directly relevant to livestock reproductive efficiency and productivity.
It also provides a foundation for postgraduate research addressing reproductive challenges in cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, and other domestic animals. Research in this field can contribute to improved reproductive management, the application of modern reproductive technologies, and the development of practical solutions to livestock production challenges.
MPhil Clinical Medicine & Surgery
The MPhil Clinical Medicine & Surgery programme provides a postgraduate pathway for veterinary graduates seeking advanced academic and research training in veterinary clinical medicine, diagnostic approaches, disease management, and surgical sciences.
The programme creates opportunities for research on animal diseases, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, surgical techniques, and evidence-based veterinary practice. Through clinically relevant research and supervised postgraduate studies, scholars can contribute to improving animal health, veterinary clinical services, and professional practice.
Expanding Opportunities for Postgraduate Research
The initiation of these programmes reflects the department’s efforts to expand postgraduate education and strengthen its research-oriented academic environment. The programmes provide a structured platform for postgraduate scholars to develop research skills, investigate important veterinary problems, and contribute to scientific knowledge and practical applications.
The availability of postgraduate programmes in both reproductive sciences and clinical medicine and surgery also broadens the department’s academic scope, creating opportunities for research collaboration among faculty members, postgraduate scholars, veterinary practitioners, and relevant livestock-sector stakeholders.
These initiatives form part of the Department of Clinical Sciences’ broader commitment to academic development, research advancement, and the progressive strengthening of veterinary education at Bahauddin Zakariya University.
Through continued investment in postgraduate education and research, the department aims to contribute to the development of skilled veterinary professionals and research scholars capable of addressing emerging challenges in animal health, livestock production, and veterinary clinical practice.
