Department of Plant Pathology
The field of Plant Pathology became an integral part of the University College of Agriculture upon its inception in 1989. In April 2009, a distinct Department of Crop Protection emerged. Within three years, by 2012, this department evolved into an autonomous entity known as the "Department of Plant Pathology," equipped with its own dedicated academic block. The department boasts well-established laboratories for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies, specializing in Mycology, Plant Molecular Virology, Phytobacteriology, Bio-chemical Analysis, Plant Nematology, and Mushroom Culture. Additionally, it encompasses a field area for research focused on diseases affecting field crops, fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals. The department is also actively engaged in investigating abiotic stresses impacting various crops.
The Department of Plant Pathology is proud to manage the only journal of the faculty, "Journal of Phytobiology." This esteemed journal is officially recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, reflecting the department's commitment to scholarly excellence and the dissemination of cutting-edge research in the realm of plant biology and pathology.
